Web Browsers - Internet Explorer 3 Setting up MS IE News
This page will take you through the steps needed to setup News in
Internet Explorer.
First, you must load Internet Explorer and start up IE News. To start up IE
News go to the Go menu and then select Read News.
This will bring up the News setup wizard. Simply click on the Next
button to proceed to the next section. You should now be presented with a screen
that looks similar to the one below. In the text field labeled Name,
enter your real name. In the next field, labelled email address enter
your email address. Your email address is your reply address.
Once you have entered these details, simply click on the Next button.
The screen that will now come up will ask you to enter the name of the news
server you will be using. In the text field labelled News Server, enter
the news server shown on your Customer Connection Details Sheet.
Once you have entered those details click on the Next button. It will
now ask you what type of connection you use. Select I use a modem to access
newsgroups and then select your dial-up network connection from the
drop-down list and then click on Next. If it is already selected then
just click on Next.
Thats it! You will now be presented with the Congratulations screen.
Just click on Finish and you are done.
Setting up MS IE Mail This page will take you through the steps
needed to setup Mail (E-mail) in Internet Explorer.
First of all, load MS Explorer and select Read Mail from the Go
menu.
Once the mail program is loaded, you will need to go to the Mail menu
and select Options.
This will bring up the options box that will allow you to alter your
settings. You will notice a row of tabs that will take you to different
preference screens. From this row, select Server
In this window you must enter the following information:

In the Server section enter the following:

Once you have done that, next click on the Advanced Settings button.
From the dialog box that appears, make sure that Leave a copy of messages on
server is not selected!
Now click on Ok to return to the setup dialog. From the row of tabs,
select Send.
Make sure that the option Send messages immediately is ticked.
Next, click on the Read tab and make sure that the option Check for
new messages every is checked. In the box next to this option, it will allow
you to enter a value. Set this value to 10.
Once you have done that, just click on Ok and you're done!
Proxy settings While running Internet Explorer, go to the
View menu and select Options.
Select the Connection tab and this will bring up the window that will
allow you to edit your proxy settings.
Make sure that the Connect through a proxy server option is NOT
ticked.
Internet Explorer will now use the Intertech Country Internet transparent
proxy system and work for you.
Click on Ok and you're all done. |
