- Barracuda Spam Email Software |

Please make
sure you read this page so you understand what the Barracuda Email
Firewall program is and what it does and how to use it. Some questions are also
answered at the bottom of this page.
Q. What is this Barracuda spam email message I keep getting? A. Well simply put it is part of the spam filtering software
that Intertech Country uses on it's email server to try and filter
and cut down the amount of spam we get. The system gets around 6
to 10 thousand emails but a majority of these are spam emails and
the system decides which emails are real and which ones are not,
although it is not perfect it still delivers some spam emails as
the spammers come up with new ways to try to fool the system into
believing it is a genuine email.
Sometimes the Barracuda system does not know what to do with
some emails and needs your help to decide what to do with it, so
if you get an email similar to the one shown below don't panic or
delete it, just follow the directions below.

Q. What do I do when I get the email? A. From within the e-mail, you can review your quarantined messages, add messages to your whitelist, delete messages, or have messages delivered to your Inbox.
To quickly remove all E-mails from quarantine, click the DELETE ALL DISPLAYED EMAILS link. Click on the Deliver link to have that
message delivered to your mailbox. Click on the Whitelist link to have that message delivered
to your Inbox and that sender whitelisted. Click on the Delete link to remove that message from your
quarantine. Click on the View link to
display that message in a new Message Details browser window.
To go to the Quarantine Inbox directly and manage the messages from there, you can click the View your entire Quarantine Inbox or manage your preferences link. This
is what we use, be aware that it will open up your
web browser to open the Barracuda Spam page so don't
panic when this happens.
Q. Can you explain further what the Deliver/Whitelist/Delete links mean

A. Selecting Multiple Messages
To select multiple messages, place a check
(tick) in the box to the left of the individual message. To quickly select all the messages within quarantine, place a check
in the top
most box (to the left of Time Received).
Note: If you want to whitelist a message make sure to do it before delivering the message to your Inbox. Once the Barracuda Spam Firewall delivers a message, it is removed from the quarantine list.
Deliver (Send to Inbox) To deliver an individual message to your Inbox, under Actions, click the Deliver link. To deliver multiple messages to your Inbox, select (check/tick) multiple message, click the Deliver button.
Whitelist (Send to Inbox and Sender Added to Whitelist) A whitelist
is a list of E-mail addresses or domains from which you always wish to receive messages. The only time the Barracuda Spam Firewall filters a message from someone on your whitelist is when the message contains a virus or a disallowed attachment file extension.
To whitelist an individual message and send to your Inbox, under Actions, click the Whitelist link. To whitelist multiple messages and send to your Inbox, select (check)
multiple message, click the Whitelist button.
Some
emails sent to Intertech Country from overseas (Germany,
The Netherlands, UK) may end up here in quarantine,
you should add these email addresses to your whitelist
to allow them to be delivered.
You can also manually add email addresses to your whitelist/blocked
list by clicking on the "whitelist/blacklist" button across the top
of the menu. Simply type in the address in the box you want to
and then click on the Add button.

Note: When a message is added to your whitelist all future E-mails from this sender are not quarantined unless the message contains a virus or banned file type. Barracuda adds the sending E-mail address exactly as it appears in the message to your personal whitelist. Some commercial mailings may come from one of several servers such as "mail.abusinesssomewhere.com." A subsequent message may come from "mail32a.abusinesssomewhere.com." It
will be your choice if you want these types of emails
to be delivered.
Blacklist This
is a list of senders from whom you never want to receive messages. The Barracuda Spam system
immediately discards messages from senders on your blacklist. These messages are not tagged or quarantined and cannot be recovered. The sender does not receive a notice that the message was deleted, and neither do you.
(see above image)
Delete (Remove from Quarantine) To delete an individual message, under Actions, click the Delete link. To delete multiple messages, select (check)
multiple message, click the Delete button.
Note: You cannot recover messages you have deleted. The main reason to delete messages is to help you keep track of which quarantine messages you have reviewed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is there a limit to the amount of messages I can have in my Quarantine Inbox? A. There is no number or size limit but after 14 days all messages are deleted.
Q. I accidentally clicked "deliver" instead of "delete" in my quarantine. What happens now?
A. The email(s) you had selected will be delivered to your regular
email inbox, however future email will continue to get scanned. And if
you accidentally click "Whitelist," you can go into your "Preferences"
and click on "Whitelist/Blacklist" then delete all the "Whitelist"
entries that got there accidentally.
Q. In my Barracuda quarantine, is there a way to view an email before deleting it?
A. You may have noticed that when you put your mouse over messages they
highlight with a dark grey bar. Just click once on the "subject,"
"date" or "from" fields and a preview window will open. This window will
show you the header information and the first 5,000 bytes of the
message in Plain Text format. (you may not see any pictures depending on how
they were added to the email)
Q. I've deleted something from my quarantine by mistake. Can you recover it? A. No. Once you delete the item, it's gone. You may need to contact the sender.
Q. Can I stop unsolicited emails from coming through? A.
No there is no way this can be done the only thing you can do it
to just keep deleting them
Q. Is there a way I can delete Barrucuda firewall from my
computer? A. Barracuda is not on your computer at all, it
is on our email server and without it we would be getting over 10,000
junk/spam email a day which would then mean that you would be getting
hundreds of spam emails instead the few that you get now. Intertech
Country is paying a large amount of money for this system to
be in place to help our clients so that they do not have a major
problem with spam.
