E-mail Software - Netscape 4.0 NOTE: All the details asked of you
in this setup can be found on your Customer Connection Details Sheet that was
provided with your account.
Once you have Netscape Communicator running select the Edit menu and
select Preferences
This will bring up the Preferences box that will allow you to
configure Communicator for your computer.
From the Category list, select Mail & Groups.
Make sure you expand the list by clicking on the little box to the left of
Mail & Groups. From this sub-list, select Mail Server.
Netscape from version 2.0 on has a built in Mail Program and News Reader.
Once the correct configuration has been loaded into Netscape you can use it to
send/receive email or read news
The fields you should complete here are Outgoing Mail(SMTP)
Server,Incoming Mail (POP) Server, Mail server user name (This
is your email address - NOT your dial-in username or login).
Under Mail server type, make sure that POP3 is selected. You
should also make sure thatLeave messages on server after retrieval is
not selected.
Next click on the More Options button.
Tick the Remember my mail password tickbox if you want Netscape to
save your password.
Click on Ok
Next, select Identity from the Mail & Groups sub-list.
This is where is you set up all of your personal details which are found on
your Customer Connection Details Sheet. If all of these options are not
configured correctly some parts of Netscape may not function correctly.
Click on OK and Netscape is now setup to check your mail. |
