Windows ME Adding a new connection

To start the Internet Connection Wizard you can either go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATIONS & click on the Internet Connection Wizard or CLICK HERE to start the program ALREADY contained on your Hard Disk Drive. It's part of your operating system from Microsoft.

Please note: if using the link above, two screens will appear and you need to follow the instructions below. THIS IS NOT A DOWNLOAD and will simply be running the file already installed as part of your Windows operating system.

Choose the option 'Run this program from it's current location' and click on the 'OK button'

Now click on the 'Yes' button. Remember this program is already installed on your PC and being run from your own Hard Disk Drive so there's no cause for concern about the screen message.

Now choose the third option: 'I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).'

To continue, click the 'Next' button

TIP: If you're new to the Internet, you may like to learn more about the Internet and click on the Tutorial button before continuing.

Leave the default selection as 'I connect through a phone line and modem'

Now click the 'Next' button.

In the field labeled Telephone number: Type the number supplied to you by Intertech Country Internet as your dial in for Internet access. Now remove the tick from the box labelled 'Use area code and dialing rules' by clicking once on it.

Please ensure this is a local call charge for you. Your phone account is separate from your Internet and solely your responsibility.

Press the 'Next' button

In the field labeled 'User name:' type the login username given to you by Intertech Country Internet eg. fred@icisp.net.au

In the field labeled 'Password' type the password as supplied to you by Intertech Country Internet.

Now type the name for your connection eg. Intertech Country Internet and click Next to continue.

Now you can setup your email account by choosing 'Yes' and click ‘Next’ to continue.

You will now choose the option 'Create a new Internet mail account', and click on the button Next to continue

Type any name you want other people to see when they receive an email from you and click on the button Next to continue

Enter your FULL email address as given to you by Intertech Country Internet and click on the button Next to continue.

Leave the default setting for POP3

Now type the incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server; address as:
mail.icisp.net.au

Next, fill in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: address as:
mail.icisp.net.au and click Next to continue.

Now type your email login name as supplied by Intertech Country Internet (eg. fred@icisp.net.au ), in the Account name section.

TIP: This is NOT your full email address, but only the first part.

Next, type your Password as supplied to you by Intertech Country Internet, into the the Password field.

Click the Next button to continue.

Congratulations! You've set up your computer for access to Intertech Country Internet and are now ready to connect. Simply click on the Finish button to begin surfing the net.

If you encounter any problems with your connection we'd like to hear from you. Just a couple of things we need first:

1. Any error messages you receive should be quoted exactly as they appear on your screen.

2. Please be in front of your computer, with it turned on, so we can give you instructions on how to resolve the problem. You do NOT need to be connected to the Internet for technical support.
