Windows XP check existing settings Note: You may need your Windows XP CD Dialup Networking
Telephone number: Enter the local dial-in phone number (click here to check your number). There is no need to enter Area code or Country/region code. Deselect the "Use dialing rules" box. Select the "Options" tab at the top. You should see the following:
Enable "Display progress while connecting". Select the "Security" tab at the top. You should see the following:
Security Options: Select "Typical (recommended settings)".
Select the "Networking" tab at the top. You should see the following:
Type of dial-up server I am calling: Select "PPP: Windows
95/98/NT4/2000, Internet. Click the "Settings" button. You should see the following:
Enable "Enable LCP extensions". Click "Ok". Click the "Properties" button. You should see the following:
Select "Obtain an IP address automatically". Click the "Advanced" button. You should see the following:
Enable "Use default gateway on remote network". Select the "DNS" tab. You should see the following:
Ensure "Append parent suffixes on the primary DNS suffix" is checked. Click "Ok" three times to return to connections. Modems
You should have a modem listed in the white box. If there are no modems or more than one modem of the same type, please see our Modem troubleshooting guide. Click "Properties" and select the "Modem" tab. You should see the following:
Maximum port speed: Select "57600". Click "OK" twice to return to Control Panel. |
